The story behind Yuan Ze University’s name includes gratitude toward parents, society, and the nation and hope to give back once success is achieved.

After graduating from the Master’s Program in Industrial Engineering and Management at Yuan Ze University in June 2009, I began preparing for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. After passing the exam, I considered how to give back to Yuan Ze. Inspired by the story behind the university’s name and the local elementary school near my home, which also offers scholarships, I established a scholarship fund at Yuan Ze to support and encourage my juniors. As long as it helps them, I am happy. Since 2010, I have provided annual scholarships. Although my salary may be insignificant, I plan to contribute this way. Later, with an explanation from Dr. Cai Pei-Qiong, the former director of public affairs, I donated to the “Netting Educational Support Project.”

I recall my entrance interview for the Master’s program, where a professor noticed two blank years in my experience and asked about them. I quickly explained that I had mistakenly left them out. The professor advised me on the importance of data completeness, which taught me always to ensure thoroughness in my academic and professional documents. With the guidance of Dr. Yun-Hsiu Chen, other professors, and Dr. Yi-Ming Chen for my thesis, I successfully graduated in 2009. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue my education after a significant time away from school.

Yuan Ze University has been growing steadily. Since its founding as Yuan Ze College of Engineering in 1989 and its elevation to a university in 1997, it has achieved numerous awards, including the Ministry of Education’s Teaching Excellence Award, the National Quality Award, and recognition as one of the 12 universities in the Ministry’s Top University Program. It is also ranked among the world’s top 2000 universities and has received funding for fuel cell research. Recently, the university has been working to establish a College of Nursing and Health Sciences, aiming for comprehensive development. The Far Eastern International Conference Center is under construction next to the campus, and the Taoyuan City Government has approved urban planning for the area around Neili Station, promising substantial future development. Yuan Ze University will continue to grow and develop, building on past efforts to achieve breakthroughs and moving toward sustainability.
