Words of Appreciation - Backed by Your Netting, We Can Pursue Our Studies Without Worry

College of Management Undergraduate - Clare

I am deeply grateful for the multiple scholarships I have received after enrolling at Yuan Ze University, including the You Xiang Scholarship, the ICP DAS Technology Yeh Nai-di Scholarship, the Professor Xu Mulan Scholarship, as well as contributions from the Rotary Club, the Chang Yung-fa Foundation, and the Song Zuonan Scholarship. These scholarships have significantly alleviated my financial and living pressures.

In fourth grade, my father suffered a stroke, rendering him unable to work, leaving my mother, a Vietnamese factory worker, to shoulder the entire family’s financial burden. Recently, my father’s condition has worsened due to complications from his stroke and heart problems. He has undergone multiple cardiac catheterization procedures and continues to attend follow-up appointments. My mother, who has long worked overtime, is also facing health issues, and last year, she underwent surgery to remove a breast tumor, requiring ongoing follow-up.

In March, I was thrilled when my team won first place in an English marketing proposal competition organized by Sunfar 3C. The proposal suggested combining corporate social responsibility with marketing by employing elderly workers for home delivery services, providing them with physical exercise and a sense of respect. Our team’s presentation impressed the chairman. I contributed my strengths in design and proofreading, having participated in three previous competitions, winning one with an honorable mention.

Balancing a part-time job at school and working at a restaurant, I commute between Shulin, Neili, and Taipei, telling myself, "I don’t feel tired," as I envision a stable career path for myself. In high school, I scored 800 on the TOEIC without prior study, and I continue to maintain my English skills by watching American TV shows. I am fortunate to have been accepted for a student exchange next semester at the City University of Hong Kong, where I look forward to experiencing a diverse cultural environment.
