Words of Appreciation - Backed by Your Netting, We Can Pursue Our Studies Without Worry

Department of Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics Class of 2022 - Jiang

My family has never been well-off, and my father has always shouldered the financial burden for our family of four on his own. I remember my father waking up at 3 a.m. to deliver newspapers and then working at a construction materials store, delivering materials starting from 7 a.m. He single-handedly supported my twin younger brothers and me, covering our living expenses and tuition. Wanting to ease my father's burden, I always wished I could grow up quickly and take on the family's responsibilities.

In college, I worked part-time while managing my studies. I actively sought scholarships to prevent work from consuming my life.  I first learned about financial aid for disadvantaged students through a school announcement. I was worried I wouldn't be eligible since so many others face hardships, but the school generously helped me, allowing me to focus more on my studies. I am grateful that I didn’t disappoint them, and through hard work, I achieved the highest academic ranking in my department. I plan to continue improving myself and live a life of gratitude while helping others in the future.
