Taiwan's higher education has long needed more funding. Under limited resources and intense competition, the unequal distribution between public and private schools has become the norm. Over 60% of all university students in Taiwan attend private institutions. According to the Ministry of Education's statistics, the proportion of disadvantaged students in national universities is relatively lower than in private universities. Private institutions accommodate more students, yet these students bear higher tuition costs while receiving fewer educational resources.

Private schools primarily rely on tuition and government subsidies for funding. However, due to the long-term tuition freeze, the impact of declining birth rates, decreasing student numbers, rising higher education costs, and increasing personnel and administrative expenses, the financial situation of universities has become increasingly strained. Despite the common stereotype that corporate-run schools are well-resourced, the reality is that private schools still need to raise substantial funds on their own to ensure the completeness of their educational programs.

Therefore, your donation is crucial! Every fundraising project at Yuan Ze University keeps the school's founding mission in mind, combining resources from businesses and kind-hearted individuals to continuously enhance the university's reputation and visibility domestically and internationally. Your donation is essential! It helps Yuan Ze students take their first steps toward their dreams, ensuring every needy student can pursue their education with peace of mind.

We hope donors contribute because they are part of the Yuan Ze community and believe in Yuan Ze’s values. Thus, your donation truly makes a difference.

You can view your donation records under the "Donor List" section by selecting your donation identity and academic year (e.g., Academic Year 109 = 109.08.01 ~ 110.07.31) or by checking the entire year’s donation details.

The office updates the previous month’s donation list on the last working day at the end of each month. If the website update takes too long, call the donation consultation hotline at 03-463-8800 #2317 and provide your name. A staff member will immediately check your donation record in the system.

You can select "Other Designation" in the donation form to specify the unit, project, or program you wish to support. The school will allocate the funds according to your donation preferences.

If you do not specify the purpose of your donation, the school will allocate it to the area most in need.

Thank you for being so willing to give long-term support to Yuan Ze University. You can use the "Credit Card Donation" option on Yuan Ze University's donation form and select the recurring donation option to complete a long-term donation to the university.

Since every donation comes from the generosity of donors, there is generally no limit on the donation amount. Regardless of the amount, every donation is a great source of encouragement and support for us!

However, even non-profit organizations must cover the handling fees for each donation transaction, and handling fees are charged per transaction regardless of the amount. Therefore, if the donation amount is lower than the handling fee, it may fail to achieve its intended impact and create a financial burden. Hence, we suggest that donors with smaller donations consider saving until the amount reaches a few hundred dollars before making a single donation. This way, your generosity can have a more practical and meaningful impact. Please note that we do not automatically issue receipts for single donations of 100 NTD or less.

Regardless of the donation method, all donors who voluntarily provide complete donor information will receive an official receipt from the university. You can use this receipt for personal income tax deductions. However, as mentioned earlier, receipts are not automatically issued for donations of 100 NTD or less.

Additionally, in compliance with "National Taxation Bureau's Electronic Filing for Income Tax Deduction Receipts," and to promote energy conservation and convenience, donors are no longer required to submit paper receipts for tax deduction purposes. If you sign an authorization letter, you can allow the university to submit your donation details to relevant authorities for filing. When you file your income tax, the deduction information can be automatically downloaded and imported during online filing or attached to your tax return, eliminating the need for physical receipts. This way will help you complete your tax filing more quickly. Therefore, we kindly ask donors to assist with the authorization process by downloading the "Authorization Form (pdf)," signing and stamping it, and sending it back by mail, fax, or Email (a scan or photo is acceptable) to the Office of Public Affairs. Receipt Template

Starting in 2023, Yuan Ze University will offer electronic receipt services. Suppose the donor is natural and authorizes the university to provide donation details to the National Taxation Bureau. In that case, the donor does not need to submit additional deduction certificates when filing their income tax for that year. For detailed information, please refer to the tax-saving explanation in the donation guide. For more assistance, please contact the Office of Public Affairs at 03-463-8800 ext. 2317.

Please call 03-463-8800 ext. 2317 (Office of Public Affairs) between 08:30-17:00 from Monday to Friday (excluding holidays and the lunch break from 12:00-13:30), and we will immediately provide consultation and services related to donations!

The donation methods that transfer all funds to Yuan Ze without handling fees include cash donations, check donations, and remittances/ATM transfers. Other donation methods will incur handling fees, as detailed below:

• Credit Card Donations: The handling fee for domestic bank cards is 1.85% of the donation amount (including one-time and recurring donations).

• Postal Remittance Donations: If the donation amount is 1,000 NTD or less, the handling fee is 15 NTD per transaction. For amounts over 1,000 NTD, the handling fee is 20 NTD per transaction.

Many donors choose to donate under the names of their children, parents, or spouses. You can file donations together, regardless of the child’s age, as long as everyone is listed under the same household registration. In other words, whether you donate under your or your child’s name, the receipt serves as a valid certificate for tax deductions.

The donor and the payer can be different individuals. If you are donating a credit card, there is a cardholder field on the donation form that the payer can sign. The donor’s information should be the information you wish to be on the receipt to facilitate the processing of the receipt.

Reminder: If multiple donors and separate receipts are needed, please fill out individual donation forms for each donor.

If your donation receipt is lost or there is an error in the donation information, please contact the Office of Public Affairs at 03-463-8800 ext. 2317. Our staff will verify the basic donation information and assist you with the necessary corrections and follow-up procedures.

Following the "National Taxation Bureau's Electronic Filing for Income Tax Deduction Receipts," aimed at promoting energy conservation, carbon reduction, and convenience, donors were previously required to provide paper receipts for various deductions. If you sign the authorization form, you authorize the university to submit your donation details to relevant authorities for filing.

In the future, when donors file their annual income tax returns, they can download their deduction data and either attach it to the tax return or import it automatically when filing online, eliminating the need to submit the university-issued receipt. This way will help you complete your tax filing more quickly. If you have provided your ID number when filling out your donation information, the university will automatically upload your donation records to the National Taxation Bureau. You still need to provided your ID number or signed the authorization. In the case, you can download the "Authorization Form (pdf)," sign it, and either fax it by February 10 to 03-463-7488, mail it to the Office of Public Affairs at Yuan Ze University, No. 135 Yuandong Road, Zhongli District, Taoyuan City 320315, Taiwan, or email the scanned document to proffice@saturn.yzu.edu.tw to apply for the donation record upload service.

The receipt can only be issued to one individual and must be a natural person (corporations, institutions, and organizations do not qualify).

Please ensure that your donation information meets the following conditions:
(1) The name on the receipt must match the ID number (the name on the receipt must be the actual name in Chinese).
(2) The ID number in the donation information is either incorrect or missing.
(3) The receipt can only be issued to one individual and it must be a natural person (corporations, institutions, and organizations do not qualify).
(4) You have signed the authorization form and returned it to Yuan Ze University's Office of Public Affairs before the end of February.

You must meet all the above conditions to ensure the university can upload your records to the National Taxation Bureau.

Donors can still attach the paper receipt issued by the university to their tax returns.

Personal donations to Yuan Ze University are tax-deductible up to 70%!

According to Article 17, Section 2, Clause 2 of the Income Tax Act, you can deduct donations to educational, cultural, public welfare, or charity organizations up to 20% of your total income as itemized deductions. However, if you donate to Yuan Ze University through a designated donation to a private school foundation, the deductible amount can increase to 50%. Combining these two donation methods can achieve a total deduction of 70%. For example, if your total income is 1,000,000 NTD, the original donation deduction is capped at 200,000 NTD, but if made through a private school foundation, the deductible amount can reach 500,000 NTD. Corporate donations to Yuan Ze University are tax-deductible up to 35%!

For-profit businesses can deduct up to 10% of your total income for direct donations to Yuan Ze University. If you donate through a private school foundation, you can deduct up to 25%.
